Finished in time!

I have been a blog slacker and didn’t publish a picture of my 4th of July wall hanging that I finished.  I blame the loss of time on my innocent ,16 pound, 13 month old grandchild; how sad is that???

Addy took an ambulance (via 911, of course) from Flat Irons Shopping Mall to Avista Hospital in Superior, Colorado where she traveled via helicopter -

to Children’s Hospital of Colorado in Aurora.  It took Mom and Dad a good 45 minutes to drive the 30 miles across town[s] to find Addy doing much better.

Piper has been to almost EVERY clinic at Children’s (she has missed the cleft palate clinic, cancer and a couple others…) and now Addy is adding neurology to their mix.  Gad zooks!  With all of the testing done so far, it looks like the event was a one time deal, but oh the drama!

Piper stayed at our house waiting for Mommy, Daddy and Addy to come home from the hospital.  She was so sleepy and ended up staying the night.  It was a very long day for sure!

Did I mention that Piper has surgery scheduled for August 15th? It will be at Children’s, of course!

Oh, by the way, here is my wall hanging, grin.  it doesn’t show well on the crème paint in the front room, I may move it next year to the family room.

Party Pictures!

I couldn’t make a post of Addy and Piper’s post anything as good as my daughter did!  After making a book using Costco’s photo shop for my aunt visiting from Cody, Wyoming, I decided to have you check the party out on Aimee’s blog.  Enjoy!  (Beware – loads of collages of pictures and smiles!)  Seuss-elebration

Oh, do you remember the balls from a previous post of mine?  They were little bits that you hydrate for plants…  Aimee used them for sensory stations at the party.  They feel soooo ubberly cool!!!  What a hit with the kids!  They were red and blue, but the red dye was strong and they ended up mostly red.  The second tub is full of dyed cooked spaghetti, another BIG hit with the kiddos!

Granddaughter’s Seuss birthday party

Yesterday was finally party day!

P1040579Addy will be one year old on May 22nd and Piper was 3 on May 11th.  Mommy and Daddy had a BIG party for Piper’s first birthday and wanted to do the same for Addy, so a big it was party to be!

The theme?  A Seuss party for our:  Little Thing 1 & Big Thing 3!

My part was pretty simple – dresses were needed to donned by two little girls.  They should be cute, but easy to move around in and, by-the-way, Addy is walking only when she wants to, so appropriate provisions should be considered.  Small tasks since both girls are bitty things, right???

Practice dresses had to be made to see if they would fill the bill.  Blouses had to be purchased and bought at the store.  Phew, good thing my job was only that big!

I made sample dresses until just the right styles were found…  I tried old patterns and used cloth I had around…  I tried them on dollies and on girls whenever I could…

So, take a look, see what do you think?

Did I do good?

Did they work?

Did the girls look like Seusville, at least for the day?

And Mommy and Daddy, they dressed the part, too!

Birthday dresses

May is birthday month!  My three grandchildren - Piper, Addy, and little man Bridger - all have birthdays this month!  What a fun time of year this is!  Piper and Addy’s party is next Saturday, May 19th.

My part for the girl’s parties are their dresses.  Last night I finished them!!  No peeks until the party, but here is amount – every single scrap – of leftover fabric.  There is not a smidgen in the trash as everything was straight cut!  I cut it pretty close, eh??  Phew!  At $12.20/yard I got my $$$ worth!

This week Aunt Ginny flies in for the party!  Hooray!  We can’t wait to see her!

When Aimee was a bitty girl …

P1040710

When my daughter, Aimee, was a bitty girl, I made her this exact same outfit!  I just made it again for her daughter!  When I pulled Aimee’s outfit out and it looked o-l-d and sad…  I still  had the exact seersucker fabric in the bottom of my stash, so with new lace and the same pattern, I made it again.  I always had Aimee in bonnets, so of course I had made a matching bonnet for her, but Aimee’s girls don’t wear them, so in just a little time I was finished.

I can’t wait to see Addy in it!

Little dress

I wrote that I was starting a little dress for Piper out of a Eddie Bauer sheet a couple of posts ago.  I have finished and it turned out darling!  I made another dress out of the fabric for little sister, Addy, too.

With every project I do, I try to learn something.  With This dress, I practiced using a “ruffler” from my mother’s OLD Singer.  It worked fine with Janome 6500! P1040529  P1040534

Here is Addy’s dress.  One year olds need matching panties, of course!  I still have to find a bow for the front – another chance to check in on the goose at JoAnn’s!  (The eyelet is left over Daisy Kingdom eyelet from Addy’s mother’s formals from the 1980s!)

Been Sewin’

P1040527P1040526

Haven’t been quiltin’ – been sewin’!

Gee, it has been a long time since I made little girl dresses!  Actually, I made Piper a couple of dresses for her first birthday, but that is about it!

Granddaughters Piper and Addy need Dr. Seuss dresses for their shared upcoming birthday and I want to make them cute dresses.  I don’t want them to match exactly, but coordinate with Seuss fabric.  I thought I’d try a couple of patterns out.  This one has elastic thread gathering in the back.  I’ve never tried that before, so this LOVELY Eddy Bauer bed sheet will be perfect for a proto-type practice dress.

Gotta get back to stitchin’!

Great Grandmother

My little granddaughters spent Monday at my house.  Nana couldn’t have been happier!

The girls and I loaded up the double stroller and away we went to Great-grandma’s house!  Grandpa showed up, too!  It was B-U-S-Y!!!!!

Too busy for many pictures

… but Easter was a great day!  I didn’t even get a picture of my sweet little grandson, Bridger.  If his daddy has one, I’ll update and add it.  Meanwhile, my daughter and her family, my son and his family, and my parents shared the holiday.  It was great being all together!

This is my daughter, Aimee, with her youngest daughter, 10 month old Addy.  The little stinker is taking up to 7 steps now – she’s in such a hurry to catch up with her big sister!

And this is little Piper playing in our backyard playing in the morning sun.  All is good with the world!  I hope you had a wonderful day, too!
