2011 Walk for Down syndrome

Today was the Mile High Down Syndrome Association’s annual “Step UP for Down Syndrome” walk in City Park, Denver.

Whew!  It is over for another year!  What a fun time with family and friends we had today!  It was a perfectly lovely fall day and the company was just grand!  We walked the 2 miles then visited under our canopies, had picnics and played with the children.

Before the walk started, everyone with Down syndrome was invited to bandstand for a big group picture.  My daughter, son-in-law, and hubby were at the truck unloading, so Piper and I went up for the picture.  Everyone was there and clapping and getting ready for the walk to begin.  I took Piper up and left her with the other kids; she turned around and looked at the crowd clapping and assumed they were clapping for her!  She was simply delighted with all the attention she was getting!  Her bright yellow hair and blue walk t-shirt glowed in the morning light.  Everyone was laughing at our cute little munchkin standing out in front.  It was a great start to a great day!
