A Great Opportunity

Remember I said I was using Blurb to make my daughter’s blog book?  Well, check out THIS book at the Blurb Bookstore.  I had seen it there when it first went online from a note from the author, Judy Coates Perez’s blog Painted Threads.  Judy is an award winning quilter and continues to push quilting to new heights with her amazing many talents.  I have seen her quilts at several shows and they are beyond inspiring!

Here is your chance to check the book out yourself!  It is called “Painted Threads” by Judy Coates Perez.  Click here to go to the Blurb Bookstore and view Judy’s book.  You may even purchase it, if you wish.  Enjoy!

* Note that you can purchase a hard or paperback book, or a iPad/iPhone version.

Pinterest Tutorials

I have found so much enjoyment visiting blogs all over the world, partly in thanks to Pinterest.  Many times the blogs generously offer tutorials and sometimes I have purchased patterns via PayPal.  Gotta love PayPal especially for buying out of the country!

Here are a couple of the tutorials I made this week.  I’ll show you more of them later.

This little pouch is just sweet as sweet can be!  I pulled the lining a bit forward and top stitched it so it just peeked out on the front.  I used a soft smooth canvas for the outside, jute ties and a vintage button.  I just love this bag!  You can find the tutorial here at a very very very nice blog called Le blog de Plume de lin.  Be sure to visit and see all the lovely things there!

Here is my bag:

This is little keeper is so cute!!!  Take a look at this tutorial I found called “Scrappy Organizer” at Where the Orchids Grow.  It is a darling blog, by the way, with some of the cutest bits and patterns ever!  If you haven’t visited, you just have to!

P1040306I’ve love lanyards and just had to make a couple for myself!  I made a long one for my camera and the short one for my keys.   Here is the Key Leash Tutorial I found and used at Designs by Loft Creations by Stephanie Dunphy.  Here is Stephanie’s picture, it is a lot better than my picture, sigh… You wouldn’t think it would be hard to take a simple picture!

This is a fun little pouch using a measuring tape for the closure.  It was quick and fun to make using the tutorial at Just Another Hang Up.  Thanks, Suzanne, for a great tutorial and sharing your great blog!  This was so fun to make and the results were perfect.  Here is a link to her tutorial:

I’ll share more projects later, have a great day,

Piper’s Blanket

Do you follow Kellie Wulfsohn’s Don't Look Now blog?  I do!  I adore her sense of color, humor, and design.  Kellie shares several free patterns on her blog and teaches you her applique and quilting methods.  You can find this pillow pattern here:  Flower Garden Pillow Tutorial.  The second pillow is mine, it was a lot of fun to make and gave me a chance to try out her technique.

Luckily, we can now purchase Kellie’s patterns here in the United States at Twiddletails.com and a few other venues; I had to order my first one from Australia.  This pattern is Pretty in Pink.  My daughter and I made a wall hanging using the large pillow pattern and adhering fussy-cut fabric pieces to an artist matt board; it really turned out cute.

Using the purchased pattern and the pillow as inspiration, I made a simple baby quilt for Piper keeping with the theme for her room.  She loves the minky back and ruffled pink ribbon.  Mommy made cute flower pictures to match for Piper’s walls, too.  Her room is darling and very girlie!

I have also made this little pillow from another of Kellie’s tutorials called Honey Bunny; have you ever seen anything so cute???

Kellie’s blog is worth the visit, I hope to see you there!
