Party Pictures!

I couldn’t make a post of Addy and Piper’s post anything as good as my daughter did!  After making a book using Costco’s photo shop for my aunt visiting from Cody, Wyoming, I decided to have you check the party out on Aimee’s blog.  Enjoy!  (Beware – loads of collages of pictures and smiles!)  Seuss-elebration

Oh, do you remember the balls from a previous post of mine?  They were little bits that you hydrate for plants…  Aimee used them for sensory stations at the party.  They feel soooo ubberly cool!!!  What a hit with the kids!  They were red and blue, but the red dye was strong and they ended up mostly red.  The second tub is full of dyed cooked spaghetti, another BIG hit with the kiddos!

NEXT party – Bridger’s first birthday party!  Stay tuned!

Blog to Book

Have you printed YOUR blog??

My daughter is a great writer and started a blog when her first child was 5 months old.  It has been a great source of enjoyment for our family and loads of friends.  She has “met” and made friends from all over the world through it.  Her blog has been a great way for the family to see the newest pictures and adventures of their family.  Everyone loves it!

So, for Christmas I gave my daughter a coupon for a blog book that I would make for her.

I’m using Blurb.

I had a difficult time decide which service to use, but what sold me on Blurb was the ease that I could manipulate the pages.  I didn’t want a simple “slurp” from blog to book.  I wanted larger pictures and the freedom to design my pages.

This first book will have 200 pages and will go to my granddaughter’s first birthday.  Now that I am a “pro” I think the next books will be faster to create.  I think I can even save my custom lay outs from this book to my next ones, but if not, they will be easy to regenerate.

I’m gonna love seeing this book once it is printed!

If you are interested in printing YOUR blog, take a look at Blurb.  Click here for a good place to start.  I bet it is less expensive than you think it will be.

Once you publish your book, you can offer it for purchase in the Blub bookstore for your friends and family IF you wish.

Here is a book you can preview and see how someone has created their book .  Just click Preview Book.

You can also find simpler books from blogs in the bookstore, too.  Some are simple slurped overs and some are very imaginative.

I hope you consider documenting your blog.

You’ve heard, “Out of the mouths of babes”?

Well, this picture was taken by my 2.5 year old granddaughter.  I guess you could say, it is out of the lens of babes!

Pretty good picture, Piper!  Go figure!

(I’m holding Addy at a doctor appointment for each of the girls at Children’s Hospital here in Denver and giving Piper my “pinky wave.”)

You can go to http://aimeesbowlofcherries.blogspot.com/ to see the rest of Piper’s pictures!

Cuteness Overload!

If, by chance, you do not follow my daughter’s blog, you simply HAVE to see it today!  You can check it out HERE.  Aimee and Luke took their little girls to the annual Mile High Down Syndrome Christmas party last Saturday and Aimee has pictures and a video up on the blog.

Okay, I’m prejudice, but golly my granddaughters are actual dollies!  Here is a sneak peek of Piper dancing.  Nana loves you, Sweethearts!

Why I am not getting much quilting done!

First and foremost, because I am a nana!  Man, do I love my grandbabies!

Another reason is that I am setting up an Etsy shop.  I have been listing some items in draft mode until I am ready to post them.  The learning curve has been a little uphill as far as descriptions and getting enough pictures taken, but it has been fun.

Last week my computer savvy daughter, Aimee, brought her computer over to help me make a header for the shop using her copy of Photoshop.  I hadn’t been able to figure out how to get the correct pixel size using Publisher or Word...  I really appreciated her help!

While my daughter was working, I was trying to shoot some background shots for the banner.  I tried several props thinking I could have my sewing machine show on the end, of the banner, or something, but I couldn’t get enough width in the shot for it to work...  I needed a looooong skinny image.

Aimee was on her computer and I was busy messing with my camera when my little granddaughter, Piper, must have come in and noticed that SHE was not in my pictures!  When I looked up THIS is what I saw!  How cute is she???  She sure knew what she was doing, didn’t she?  Do you get the idea she has a lot of pictures taken of her?

“I’m ready, Nana!”

Thanks to Aimee (and Piper) my shop Quilty Bits 'n Whatnots should be up next week!

October is Down syndrome month!

This is an awesome month!  Loads of bloggers will be posting all month long about Down syndrome.  It is a great opportunity to share what Ds IS, as well as what it is NOT!

Being a grandmother of a absolutely darling child that is short, smart, funny, polite (I could go on and on here you know) whom also just happens to have Down syndrome, I encourage you to visit some of these blogs.

Start off by visiting my daughter's blog, if you like, and meet their family.  On the sidebar you will find lots of blogs of other families that also have darling little kidlets with an extra chromosome.

Be prepared, because there is going to be an abundance of cute pictures this month!

Nana loves you, sweet Piper!  I wouldn’t change a thing about you!

Piper and Kissin’ Sassy

I have a Boston Terrier named Stitch.  My folks have two Boston Terriers, Sassy and Starr.

My two and a half year old granddaughter, Piper, LOVES my Boston Terrier, but is a little less sure of my parent’s doggies.

The solution?

Keep the doggies on the opposite side of the screen!  Enjoy!

Aimee's Bowl of Cherries

My daughter has been blogging for a couple of years now. She has always had a wonderful way with words and her blog is simply delightful! Aimee started her blog several months after her first child was born. Her blog focuses on her family, but started out with her Piper. Piper was born with Down syndrome. If you have a moment, I highly recommend that you check her blog out. I just bet you will be surprised at what Down syndrome REALLY looks like! Needless to say, Piper is a doll and is the apple of everyone's eye, not just nana's!
Here are a couple of teaser pictures of 2 year-old Piper and her baby sister Adalynn aka Addy. Addy was born in May along with her cousin Bridger. Aimee and her husband, Luke, have their hands full of goodness! ~ Robbie
